**This experience is a mash-up of two red carpets. While written by both Kaylyn and Jon it is listed under Kaylyn’s experiences.
Memorial Day weekend in Indianapolis is full of events surrounding the Indy 500 out at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and with such a prolific event each summer, celebrities race to Indianapolis to become a part of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. IN the Loop TV Show had the honor to watch the Indianapolis 500 and Snake Pit Ball red carpets from the first row, right behind the media fence.
The fence is set up, the red carpet is rolled out and the media zoo are all in their place awaiting the arrival of the Indianapolis 500 elite, celebrities and members of the military that deck themselves out for the glitz and glam of walking the red carpet.
The press portion of the red carpet is a madhouse. Cameras everywhere, production teams and photographers vying for the perfect soundbite or image to add to their show, magazine or photograph.
As a member of the media you have to maintain a certain poise and refrain from fan-girl and fan-boy moments. We stood stoic faced, asking our questions trying to keep it professional while inside erupting with giggle/cheer moments. “I just interviewed Andrew Luck.” And “That is Tyler from Florida Georgia Line.” Straight-faced and professional, these celebrities are just people. They are just like you and me.
And then just like that it was over. The red carpet is all glamor, right up to the point that it’s really not. By the end of the red carpet celebrities are ushered off by publicists and managers to their perspective party areas, interns are rolling up the carpet, removing the barriers and shifting everyone out to their cars. Still, it is a flurry of fun and prestige. I wouldn’t change anything about it.
