You will laugh. I guarantee it. Mystery Café of Indianapolis has been serving up laughs, as well as, delicious food for over twenty years in the Circle City.

Now, the term, murder mystery dinner theatre, may conjure up some images of a butler in the drawing room with a candlestick but at Mystery Café, foul play is dished out in ways you’ll never see coming. The owner, Joe, is just as enthusiastic and involved in the evening, as I imagine he was twenty years ago.

Original story lines are circulated every month, so patrons are encouraged to come back and employ their detective skills whenever they get a hankering. These witty, convivial jaunts are crafted by crack writers and executed perfectly by actors who assume multiple identities throughout the course of the show. Before it begins, volunteer diners are given lines to recite at the perfect moment. These mini-manuscripts are most enjoyed, by participants and fellow diners, when all inhibition is cast aside. The ambiance at Mystery Café cultivates an atmosphere of frivolity, friendship, and fun, which is a refreshing respite from the hustle and bustle of a long work week. As they say at Mystery Café, you will enter as strangers and leave as friends.

With dinner provided by the historic Milano Inn, a different course is served between every act of the play with 4 courses in total. These include a freshly tossed salad, minestrone soup, your choice of Italian pasta (the Mostaccioli was fantastic), Spumoni for dessert, and melt in your mouth rolls for the whole table. Mystery and intrigue are served weekly on Friday and Saturday nights and the show is also available to travel for special events. For an inside look at Mystery Café, check out the video below.
